The UK’s national newspaper The Sunday Mirror recently tried and tested our semi permanent makeup eyebrow enhancement. This is their reporter’s verdict.

If day long beauty isn’t enough how about slap that lasts for years? Semi-permanent make-up uses the same basic techniques as tattooing, but the pigment is applied less deeply, so it only lasts two to three years. We sent our guinea pig to try it out...

What happened?

Eyebrow pencil was drawn on as a guide and my brows were tattooed using a tiny, un-scary needle. It’s a strange, scratchy feeling, made bearable by numbing cream. To avoid a hard line, the therapist tattooed on lots of little strokes that look like hairs. The whole thing took about two hours.

What were the results like?

At first, my eyebrows were very dark and defined. However I didn’t panic because the therapist had said that they’d lighten and the lines would soften. I got an aftercare balm and a sheet of rules: don’t touch, pick or get them wet. Within a week the colour started to fade and my skin scabbed and flaked. At my touch up one month later the colour was perfect but there were a couple of small areas that needed going over.

Verdict

I’ve ditched my brow pencil! The shape and colour are excellent, and a friend commented that my brows looked beautifully groomed.
